at home in nature

I let nature guide me. When I move through woods and landscapes, I discover traces of change, fragility and connection in things that may at first seem ordinary. I am interested in how we encounter nature—and in what becomes visible when we look more closely.

Polaroid and instant film are the central materials of my work. A Polaroid wrests an image from a single moment. For me, that is often only where the artistic process begins. I separate image layers, fold, tear and shift them, or reassemble them in new ways. My work moves between analogue and digital processes, allowing change and fragility to become part of the image itself.

I am a German artist based near Bonn.

an invitation to linger
Staying, pausing and feeling the peace and quiet has become difficult in today’s hectic society. The race starts in the morning after getting up: commute to work, stand in a traffic jam or squeeze into the crowded subway, arrive at the office, have a quick coffee, meetings, deadlines and customers without time. Ina Echternach invites us to take a break with her series „an invitation to linger“. We look through a window into her Polaroid worlds.

burning trees
Each tree in this series conveys facts about how trees secure our livelihoods. They provide shade, bind carbon, offer habitats for other species, improve soils, stabilise the water balance, are witnesses of time and active climate savers.
